The Event Finder has been designed as a modern, user-friendly application that allows you to effortlessly explore over 3,000 cycling time trials across England, Scotland, and Wales. It features advanced search capabilities, works seamlessly on desktop, tablet, or phone, and includes social media links to help you coordinate with fellow riders.
Home Screen
From the home screen, you can start your search using the following options:
- Keyword Search
Start typing any text and the system will look for a match across any of the following data fields: Event Name; Club, District, Series, Course, Location. The location text can be any part of an address including full or partial post codes.
- Your Own Location
Clicking the target sets the location to your current geographic location – useful for searching across districts if you live near a district boundary
- Date Rage
Under ‘When’ within the main search box there are three default date ranges: All Future Events, This Year and Next 30 Days. You can also select any custom date range. To select a new end date, click it (start date will remain unchanged); to select a new start date click the date twice to set, then select end date.
- Event type
Under Explore Events are a number of selectable event type options covering length category and type of terrain. These can be searched independently or in combination with the other search options.
Results View
Following your initial search you will be presented with a set of matching events. These can be viewed as a List of events, showing all key details, or as pins on a Map giving an immediate indication of how far you would need to travel for each relevant event. Select List or Map at the top to toggle between these two views.
You can further refine your search results using filters. If your browser window is wide enough, optional filters will appear onthe left. Otherwise click the funnel icon top right of the initial results.
The filters are organized into collapsible categories:
- Location: By default, events within 30 miles of your search location are shown, but you can adjust this
- Event Type: Includes options for status, day of the week, and time of day.
- Distance: Choose from Long, Short, Medium, Ultra, or standard distances (e.g., 10 miles, 25 miles)
- Course Terrain and Road Type
- Classification and Eligibility
- Race Type: Solo or team races and type of bike
The availability of filter options depends on the data available. For example, while some courses may specify single vs. dual carriageways, this information is not always provided.
Event View
Selecting View Details from the list view or clicking the pin and selecting the event from the map view will take you to the Event page. The term Event within the Event Finder App encompasses all races that take place within an organised event; typically all races on a single course on a single day will be listed under a single Event.
From the Event view you can select Enter or More Details for each race listed, depending on whether it is open for Entry, which will take you to the CTT system to enter or view as appropriate.
Social media links and sharing
In the Event Finder App, wherever you see the sharing icon you can use it to share your search results or specific events directly with friends or fellow riders. When you click the icon, you'll have the option to share via WhatsApp, Facebook, or Email. This makes it simple to promote events, organise races, and spread the word within your club or group.
The App also contains icons to link to the CTT Facebookand Instagrampages.
Setting up for use on your phone
If you’d like to add an app icon to your phone’s home screen for the Event Finder App, the approach will differ according to the make and model of your phone. Normally from your browser there will be menu item called 'add to home screen', or something similar. It works differently for Apple and Android. The following links provide detail:
