Event

An event consists of one or more races taking place on the same course on the same date with the same organiser, and with a shared capacity for entries. Thus a single event allowing 120 riders could consist of separate races for individual riders, tandems and teams. For naming conventions see here Event Naming Conventions

Organisation

Any body which may organise an event. The types of organisation are:
  • National
  • District
  • Association
  • Club
  • Team
Associations, clubs and teams must affiliate to a District (or National in the case of an overseas body).
Clubs / teams may affiliate to one or more associations (outside of CTT website remit).

Race

A race accepts entries from riders who meet eligibility criteria defined for the race such as age, classification, type of machine (e.g. road bike, tricycle).
There are three main types of race:
  • Individual
  • Tandem
  • Team TT
  • Team Relay
Within the Team TT race type are sub-types of 2-Up, 3-Up and 4-Up.
Entries into a race with a different race type or sub-type cannot be compared within the event results, but all entries within a race type or sub-type could be compared - see Race Classification definition.

Race Classification

A rider only races once in a race, but the times recorded for riders competing in a race can be presented in a number of different classifications such as Open / Female, Road Bike, Age Group, Handicap.

Rider

A rider is someone who can enter a race.

Role

A role conveys permissions to a user who has the role assigned to them. Roles are hierarchical, inheriting permissions from roles that are lower in the hierarchy, but not within a single hierarchy. Thus users can be granted the specific set of permissions that they require.

Special Conditions

Rule 26 "Limitation of Entries" stipulates that selection of riders shall be on the fastest performance recorded during the current and past three years at the relevant distance. In events counting towards the RTTC Women's Best All Rounder Competition, 25% of the places and 25% of the reserve places must be reserved for women.
A special condition amounts to a change to the basis by which entries are prioritised for acceptance from those stated above i.e. not on fastest performance.
For example, these are special conditions:
  • Priority to xx district riders
  • Priority to VTTA members
  • Slowest riders
  • Middle Markers events such as slower than 22:00 Last Three Seasons
  • Invitation
The following are examples of additional event information that do not constitute special conditions as they do not alter the acceptance criteria from fastest riders first:
  • Medium Gear 72"
  • Heritage Cycles
  • Fancy Dress

User

A user is someone who has registered to access features on the website that are not accessible to unregistered users. Roles are assigned to users to control access by users to functionality and / or data, with a user able to hold one or many roles.
A user is distinct from a rider in that a user may be able to submit entries both for themselves and for riders for whom they hold parental responsibility.
